Lopos, a spinoff of the research center imec and the UGent, created a new sensor that helps to respect social distancing. The sensors continuously measure the distance between each other. When 2 devices get within one and a half meters of each other they give an alarm and vibrate.
The sensors use a high-precision communication technology, making them very accurate, which is particularly relevant in times of #corona. Our colleague Martine testifies: “At the beginning of the day you pay close attention to respecting a safe distance, yet as the day progresses you feel that you are paying less attention to keeping your distance. This device reminds us that we are too close, so we take a step back.”
Because this device helps to ensure social distancing and does not save any private data from its users, there is a great demand. We as Dekimo prioritized this production to ensure there are enough devices to meet this demand.
